Yeah we saw a similar article, but for Europe only.
I wouldn't stress about it. The primary benefit from the GG seems to be turning out to be the gorilla head sticker on the glass.

Im sure it's stronger than the crappy windshield that comes with the jeeps.
I changed mine on the jk 3 times already.
It would be nice if we could get something as a bonus.
From most of the reports I've seen, it doesn't seem to to any better
I believe it's harder, not stronger, than the original. Not sure why one would want a harder windshield. GG is great for not getting scratched in ones pocket but who keeps their windshields in their pocket???

Edited to add: i assume the reason wranglers have historically had problematic windshields isn't the glass at all but both the lack of aerodynamic airflow over the vehicle and a nearly vertical windshield. The JL has a little more rake than the JK so hopefully that helps.

My first gorilla glass windshield lasted about 2 months before it broke from impact with a very small piece of gravel. Buddy of mine who bought a Jeep when I did broke his pretty quickly too.

I'm on my third now in 10k miles. This time I had clearbra applied over the windshield to see if that would help. So far so good.
I adddd a product called Exoshield to my windshield (standard glass) to help protect it, I think this stuff is similar to clear bra… it’s worked pretty good so far for 25k km’s.

It won’t maintain a crystal clear vision but it will stop your windshield from cracking. For small rocks it does a pretty good job, larger rocks will leave a mark but no crack.

Up here they gravel the roads like crazy in winter so a cracked windshield is pretty common. A friend of mine got a JT a few months after I got my 4xe and he has replaced his windshield twice already.

I started counting the little indents in the Exoshield film one day that I thought would have resulted in cracked windshields and I stopped counting at 20.

I took a gamble with my windshield protection film as I thought it sounded a little hopeful but in hindsight I’m glad I did - enough where I’d recommend it to others.

I wish jeep would offer this as standard or at least make it an option from factory.

The vertical windshield definitely makes a difference, when I lived in Australia I had a 1992 Toyota landcruiser, it also had a more vertical windshield and also seemed more prone to getting chips and cracks.

Where did you get the Exoshield installed
Where did you get the Exoshield installed
I got it installed at the following shop near where I work in Calgary:

I’m not sure where you live but there may be a place nearby that offers the same product. If not I imagine other similar products work much the same. I just looked up reviews of a few different windshield protection films but at the end of the day it came down to what was available nearby.

When you say it "won't maintain a crystal clear vision", is that from installation or some degradation over time? Also, how does it hold up to constant rubbing/abrasion? ie from Windshield wipers. I'm on the Wet Coast and that liquid sunshine has the wipers on frequent use.
Gorilla glass isn't all that it is cracked up to be. A small pebble caused the entire lower base of the windshield to crack. Jeep was only 29 days old at this point. The warranty claim was denied as the damage was "caused by an outside influence". No shit lol
Part of the issue with the GG warranty is it only covers initial damage that is between 1" and 3". It's a very specific range that most glass damage doesn't fall into.

Not sure but it’s a waste. Mine is already cracked along bottom with NO stone chip. I think they’re flawed and won’t replace it with GG.
