What would the oil pan gasket have to do with a transmission unless you mean the transmission fluid pan and gasket.
Th ZF 8HP has the filter built into the pan; the can crack or leak, but it's not that common- although the pan in my F22 2 Series did begin to leak, but fortunately it did so at about the same time I needed to change the ATF.

Got word yesterday the repair was "approved" as a warranty item and a new transmission was ordered. Service writer had no idea how long it would take since he's never seen such a thing. All three writers at this dealership are young and pretty clueless. None strike me as mechanically inclined or car enthusiasts. Just form fillers. 6 business days at the shop if we are counting. ;)

I brought my brand new 2024 Rubicon 4xe home on 3/4/2024. On 4/10, one month later, the hybrid system died. It turns out the hybrid battery was not built correctly and failed, stranding me roadside. They had to take it out on a wrecker.

UPDATE: 20 days later, they still haven’t fixed the car and have refused to buy it back. The lemon lay for new leases in MA had come and gone but they are ignoring that fact. I’ve had to hire a lawyer just to have a chance at being made whole. They still don’t have any end in sight in terms of a repair, but Jeep corporate is totally unconcerned with that fact.

I am sharing this as a warning. If your 4xe hybrid system fails, they will not help you. They will lean on the warranty and let you wait as long as it takes to avoid having to replace the vehicle.

What I’ve learned is, they don’t actually know how to build or service these vehicles yet. Buy one at your own risk.

UPDATE 2: the finally replaced the hybrid battery and forced me to keep the car even though they were well past the acceptable date range. It made it exactly one week and the check engine light came on. We were out on Mother’s Day and I had to crawl home with it.

Seriously. Do not buy one of these pieces of garbage.
Another update: after 25 days they forced me to keep this piece of garbage. I made it ONE WEEK and the check engine light came on. Now I have to drag this shit box back to the dealership and start all over.

They gave me their WORD it was fixed.

Been telling you the dealer is a big part of your issue all along.

What's your lemon attorney have to say?
I haven’t had a chance to talk to them yet. Hoping to tomorrow. Honestly the dealer is certainly inept, but it can’t all be on them. It’s not their fault Jeep built this junk bucket. I just wish they would have my back.

It’s not their fault
While I'm sure you would have still been annoyed from having an issue, but I bet you would have a very different overall opinion if you had taken it in, it had been fixed quickly and correctly the first time with them communicating what was going on, minimal down time and had given you a reasonable loaner from the get go.

What are you talking about? I’m sharing a story to warn others of what they are getting into with these junk boxes. My lemon lawyer tells me they are the number one vehicle they deal with right now.

By the way. Still not fixed. Still refuse to buy it back.

One person's opinion. We have 2 and they are great.

I’ve owned Jeeps for years. The build quality on this one is by far the worst. My 2021 Rubicon was my favorite car ever. I miss it.

This isn’t an opinion. I’m just telling people exactly what has happened and what Jeep does to you when it does happen.

Yeah, I feel for you. Did you ever reach out to Mike MacDonald at Stellantis like I suggested? He really helped me. Feel free to private message me if you're not comfortable talking about this.

Maybe so with your dealership but the I used to work for done everything in their power with Stellantis to resolve issues.

I'm in the same boat. My 2021 4xe crapped out about a week ago. It was charging fine. The check engine light came on and the warning was that the charging system needs maintenance. Engine was running kinda reved up and the A/C shut down. I believe this is more of a protection mode from the car's software.

Been about 2 week with my car in the dealership. The last message from the shop was: "So far we have an active STAR case with Chrysler, pending replacement for the entire hybrid battery. We have an assigned agent and we have submitted what they asked from us. We are waiting for their reply. "

I've had a few issues yes, but still think this is more of a "Car and Technology too new" for the dealerships to be up to date. Not all of them know what they are doing. It's unfortunate, yes. I'm not planning on changing this car, yet I can only hope they will do the right thing.

My 2021 4xe crapped out on me as well one week ago. I couldn't get the car to start and the transmission was locked, even though it was in Run mode???? I had to tow the car to the dealership and after 8 days, I got a call from Jeepcare and they called the dealership for me. The very next day the dealership called and told me I need a new battery pack and they had just ordered it. The battery pack is warrantied for 10 years or 100,000 miles, thats the good news. The bad news is they don't know when they will get the battery and I will most likely not get my jeep back for at least another week. I've had a few other probelms with it and I did buy it brand new. This is my 3rd Rubicon. I think next time I might pass on the xe and get a Rubicon that is not a hybrid. I had no problems with my previous Rubicons.

I forgot to mention that when I dropped my jeep off at the dealership they told me they had 150 cars ahead of my car and it could be weeks before I got it back. Also they could offer me a rental car for only 2 days??? What a pile of horsesh*t. More and more people are buying the 4xes but there are very few technicians who know how to repair them working at these dealerships. We are all in the same boat when something goes wrong with them. Over and out.
