This happened to me once after I owned my 2023 4xe Wrangler. Maybe the difference is that I was driving on the freeway when it happened. It was a risk to drive so I stopped driving it until I had an answer. I did not and never did receive a recall notices but I did read somewhere at the time that it was a known software issue. Got a software upgrade and it hasn’t happened again. That was about 10 months ago.

I guess the big question should be “Did the dealership forget to tighten the drain plug Or a hose during an inspection?” Or did they catch or stretch a fitting when they did the running boards? If that happened of corse they won’t admit it.

Happened to me. The vehicle thought I was swerving and it would shutoff. My issue turned out to be a broken harness. Jeep didn’t have a replacement part and eventually repurchased my vehicle. It took 6 months of fighting with FCA representatives before they repurchased the vehicle.

My husband was driving down the interstate and his 2024 jeep 4xe shut off! Thank god he is alright and did not crazy driving at 80 mph. Has this happened to anyone? Who do we report this too because this is a major safety issue and flaw in their vehicle.
I had my 2024 jeep wrangler 4xe s for a couple months,it started shutting off at stop lights.anyway long story short .transmission was no good.

Hi all,
Today was so scary. Driving my beauty 2024 4XE to work today. Stopped at a red light on a 90km/hr hwy and she went dead. Drive indicator light on dash started flashing (“D”) and no go. Put her into park (while traffic light was still red) “Service Transmission” came up in the dash, I immediately put hazard lights on. Tried to put her back into Drive, no go; it was locked into park. Light went green… I couldn’t put the vehicle into neutral to try and coast off the highway!
The traffic light went from green to red 3 times while I was blocking the slow lane (so embarrassing). Remembered that it’s a computer and did a hard shut down (I.e. turn the vehicle completely off and wait 30 seconds). Turned her back on and was able to drive off without a problem. Vehicle has 2k - that’s all! Had her towed to dealership and am awaiting diagnosis. This was so messed up and I was terrified that I was going to get rammed while sitting like a duck at the light.

That must have been very stressful. Please keep us updated.

I leased a 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe 1month ago and it is constantly shutting down in middle of the road, about 10-15 times a day! Its been to the dealership twice and they said there are no alerts so its fine. It is not fine! I already reported to NHTSA, any other suggestions?
Sounds like how it acts when your door is ajar. Look for a door indicator on the dash. I might try disconnecting the door cables for a drive.

I had this happen 3 times with my 2023 GC 4xe Overland. Took it to the shop and they drove it for a few days, and it didn't happen to them. So no answer on it.

I recently bought a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Sport and it has been doing this very same thing. I will randomly shut down but will start back up after about 10 mins. I took it to the dealership and said it was the Evap System. So I took care of that. A few days later same thing happened. I guess it wasn’t the Evap System.

While this isn't the right forum for that (its geared towards the newer hybrid Jeeps) the symptoms sound to me like a crank shaft position sensor- when they start to go bad they experience intermittent thermal failure; the 10 minutes of cooling down is all it needs to get back in spec. Its been an issue on Jeeps since the 4.0 in the late 80's but shops never seem to diagnose it correctly.

Had this exact problem except my car would not brake. Was driving and had to coast to a stop before I could put it in park. Horrifying. Been a week and they told me it will be 3 more before I get a diagnosis.

My 2024 Grand Cherokee Altitude has been serviced 3 times for the stalling issue and has continued to get worse. Currently being towed and we’re considering it a lemon. My question is whether this has continued to be an issue with the 2025 models? I really liked it…other than it stalling while driving with my children in the car! But do I want a 2025? Not even sure what my options are at this point and am trying to research that now.

I have a 2025 GCxe and it has done this to me once, less than 3,000 miles on it. It was horrifying, I also had my kids in the car. It spent 3 weeks in the shop just for them to tell me that “nothing is wrong with the car but we replaced the battery just in case” I personally would not recommend getting a 2025 model. It seems like Jeep knows there is an issue but won’t take accountability for it. I will be claiming it as a lemon if it happens again.

Having exact same issue but a high pitched chirp coming from rear right axle area as well.
