Oh, BTW, I called Jeep Connect to report this incident. Their only advice was to take it to a dealer, and they said they have no way of notifying Jeep of the problem to help troubleshoot it or warn other customers of the safety hazard. Very unhelpful help.

Crazy... I guess I'm glad my Jeep doesn't have a clear signal to my wifi so it didn't get the OTA update.

Also, why couldn't they just send another update to 'undo' the previous update?

Lesson learned, never bother updating anything until much much later when we hear no complaints from other owners!
