Actual mpg after 6000 miles

I’ve crested 6000 miles in a little more than six months of ownership. My computer has figured around 36 mpg, but I calculated miles against how many gallons I actually used. The result is 68 mpg! I’m one of those fortunate folks that the 4xe Jeep is perfect for: lots of shorter trips and occasional long one. Additionally we have relatively cheap electricity. I’m always plugged in at home with a level 2 I added for less than $300. It seems it will save a lot on gas, but I realize it will never cover the premium price for the Summit 4xe. But I get to drive in a much nicer, much better performance car for around the same as a less expensive model. At a minimum the 4xe allows you to better rationalize the splurge😎.

I’m not disagreeing with your concerns at all. In fact they are now mine as well. I want some answers.
Okay, I’ve read the entire Nissan report. It was 2019 and definitely is not my unit. The report itself says it needs to have either ETL or UL listing. Mine clearly has ETL labeling and has no other labels Nissan complained about. Its specs say it is J1772 compliant with the anti short protector. Since there is a lot of good feedback on Amazon I wonder if it’s possible that Mustart was first in Europe (four or five years ago) and therefore had the European listings but now has got its act together for the US. Just wondering. I’m contacting them and Amazon tomorrow. This needs to be settled. If this is as bad as it seems it could be, then Amazon will be liable once notified. That shouldn’t make them happy.
There have been numerous people that have had issues with the "new" version of the mustart as well. Could they have a new, new version? It's possible

Remember, the old ones also said they were j1772 compliant.
Coal? Seriously? Coal.
Yes Coal, the substance that the US government has demonized for decades but has run the country and for that matter many countries for centuries. It is to prove the point that mining current oar is significantly worse than ICE fuels.
My parents had a Ford Fusion PHEV. They used around town and got gas 3-4 times per year.
Sounds about right if I fill up all the way and putz around home it’ll last me about 3-4 months. I usually just get a quarter tank to save on the weight. Lasts a month+
I now have a Grizzl E Classic charger all hooked up. The issue with the return of the Mustart is unresolved. The Grizzl E seems like a good charger. A massive cable. I don’t need any Bluetooth connection since my Jeep tells me when it’s charging and when it’s finished.

Well it isn’t proving the point, it’s making a statement. It’s not the government demonizing coal, it’s what mining coal & other FF do to the local environment before they are then burned which creates a massive impact on the environment. It isn’t good. It’s a necessary evil for now until we get to real sustainable solutions. Nothing will have zero impact, but because a better solution isn’t perfect is not a reason to continue an objectively worse alternative.

That's great! Which level 2 charger did you pick up for less than 300? I’m definitely interested in getting one.
The Mustart was less than $300 but it’s the one the articles say has problems. The Grizzl E is $395 and seems very robust. Made in Canada while the Mustart is Chinese.

I got this one on Amazon. It’s been great so far. It’s the same as the Lectron unit, but a different brand. It works with the scheduled charging (apparently some of the cheaper ones don’t as I had to return a few), it’s 16A @220V and charges the Jeep in about 4 hours. Nice cable, good length, high grade plug. Very happy with it. For more power, I recommend the Wallbox 40A unit, which I have for my Mustang Mach E. I have it set to 32A, so I can use it on the Jeep as well if I need faster charging.

It's a 16A charger with a plug only rated to support 12A. Perfect example of why these Chinese non rated units need to be avoided.

I knew you’d chime in! :) it’s not rated for 12A (unless they use it as a level 1 charger, in which case it’s 12A, not 16A). It’s a 220V 20A plug & outlet that it’s plugged into. It comes with an adapter for a 15A plug, but I don’t use that. It runs great and stays cool (I verified with a thermal scanner). I would be more concerned if it was one of the 32A units.

Several reviews specifically mention it pulling 1.75 kW (which is what you'd get from 16A on level 1) and it damaging plugs...

Sure sounds like it pulls more than the 12a the 5-15 plug it comes with is rated for.

Isn’t it true that you don’t have to dial down a 40 amp charger to 32 amps, The Jeep controls what it can take. The only reason to dial down is if your power plug is on a 40 amp 220 circuit versus a 50 amp 220 service.

It's true that you shouldn't need to dial it down, but with some evses, it seems to prevent some errors.

Actually - you are right on that. I did read those reviews and saw the pics. The last one I got that said it was 16A only pulled about 1400W max (I had a monitor on it). Looks like the people with issues were hooked up to a regular 10A or 15A outlet, and who knows what else was plugged in there with it. That’s why I don’t like and don’t use the adapter. It’s probably ok on a 20 amp 110V outlet, but since they all look the same, the novice user can’t tell or may not be aware of the wiring/breaker. Mine is pulling about 3400W or so on the 220V line (I upgraded everything since our last chat - ran new 12/3 line and a new 20A double pole circuit to a new NEMA 6-20 outlet). Most reviews were positive (as would be mine). For the 4XE, I just couldn’t see putting in a higher end charger - but regardless of what people use, it’s very important to make sure your system can handle the output. Nearly everything electrical these days comes from China, even $800 chargers, so I don’t worry a ton about that. UL approval would be nice, and the car plug and input plug are UL, just not the whole box.

My issue with it is that they're shipping a product that fails to meet basic code/safety standards. If they can't get the plug right, what else do they get wrong?

My point originally had nothing to do with the demonizing, it was in fact that more deaths due to Cobalt per year than Coal mining from the beginning. Mining is mining, but tactics that are used to mine Cobalt and Lithium are exponentially worse for the environment in a thousand ways.
I picked up this used 32amp Level 2 Charger off of Amazon for $349 and have been running it for about a week now. It will charge my GC battery from empty to full in 2.5 hours.

I'm using a classic ChargePoint and had it professionally hardwired/installed through Qmerit. Both not cheap but works like a charme.

I'm also using an extension without any issues.
