Adding a trailer hitch to base 4xe?

Has anyone done this? And did you install it yourself or have someone do it? Part numbers?

What are you using for a wiring harness? The only reason why I am asking is you might have to remove the bumper to install the harness depending on which one you use and how you decide to wire it in.

What is the silver tray that’s just below the hitch?

No wiring harness, I added this so I could use a tray style bike rack. The silver tray is a heat shield.

What year is your Grand Cherokee? I have a 22 and it doesn’t have a heat shield.

Interesting that yours is the same year as mine. I wonder if it was a part that was added or deleted from future builds.

Hey there, I've bought a 2nd hitch for our 2022 4xe because it seemed like the first one was too wide for the crossbar. Like the crossbar is 3", but the gap on both hitches is 3.25, so it doesn't seem like there's any way to secure it without it rattling. Am I missing something obvious?

You may have the heat shield. It is much more obvious with the receiver hitch. The oe bumper beam hides it pretty well.

Hi - is that the base model that you added the 2" receiver to? I'm also going to use one for my tray bike rack...how much?

yup, 4xe base which is similar to the limited package of the ICE model GC’s. All other trims 4xe include the hitch from what I understand.
