I will usually run E-0 87 or 88 octane in general. Keep in mind around here regular fuel is 85 octane. I will run 91 if towing or usually on a road trip I'll top off with 91 and run 91 for the trip. Also in the hottest part of the summer I will usually run 91. Most of the time I just run the mid grade, which is 87/88 octane. I haven't noticed any difference really with mid or premium or non ethanol. Just seems like a good idea to run the 91 in some circumstances.

In Oklahoma, we can get 87, 89, 91octane 100% gas. I've tried 100% in both 87 and 91 octane and frankly can't tell any difference in performance or engine operation. Just lightens my wallet a bit faster buying 91. :)

Another reason I use 100% gas is that it doesn't breakdown as fast over time as E10. Months can sometimes pass by before I need to add any fuel to my 4xe.
In a pressurized system like the 4xe....there is a maximum of 90 days before the stale fuel FORM mode comes on, 10% ethanol gasoline is not going to cause an issue in this case.

The ethanol isn't going to help matters either...all of the 87 octane in my area has Ethanol in it. Ethanol (even the 10%) is very hard on lawn mowers, generators or single cylinder or small gas engines....it eats the float and seals, hoses in their carburetor. I think overall the fuel with ethanol goes stale or bad within 30 days or less. Most small engine companies recommend if your not going to use the gas in 30 days to dump the tank, add fuel stabilizer or use the high octane gas it has no ethanol in it....which is an advantage to the high octane or premium fuel.

Comparing a lawn mower fuel system to the pressurized system in a 4xe is like comparing apples to kumquats, many people go over 30 days with fuel in their 4xe without issue, i'm one of those people.

Yeah, I go over the 30 days with the fuel too..my whole point was I "really don't like the Ethanol" in the gas....no matter how much of it. I buy fuel every 4-6 weeks at about 5.5 gallons at a time. I have thought about buying the premium fuel but haven't done it yet. I rarely fill the tank all the way up unless I'm going to a long trip...which isn't often.

I am pretty happy to use 87, coming from a Stelvio Multi-air version, where if you strayed to far from the ethanol or octane level it would kick a fuel system code. Jeep spent more time figuring out US fuel supply conditions than the Italians.
