I got this email today. I hate to replace a windshield now that’s isn’t cracked. But if I have to replace it (and I did in my JK some years ago) I was thinking to look further into this.

My luck, less than 200 miles in huge rock hit the windshield threw up from a tanker truck on the expressway. Cracked bad and needed replacing. I did have the extra windshield protection plan so it cost 0$ but this gorilla glass option wasn’t there yet…would have paid the extra to have this put in 2 weeks ago if i’d have known. I see in the build your Jeep the option isn’t that bad $$

Everyone I have talked to say it’s not “if” but “when” the windshield is cracked. So I think if it can help even a little it’s worth it. The glass guy that replaced mine said they do more Jeep windshields than all other windshields combined. Sounds sorta dramatic but could be true I guess.

It was an $80 option when I ordered 2 weeks ago. I passed. My reasoning is that every cellphone I've owned has had some variation of GG for the last 5 or more years. And they all scratch and crack like nobodies business.

It is still 1 million times better than what Jeep is currently using. Every Jeep in our family is getting replaced a minimum 2-4x a year.

So what's the latest on this? Safelite online specialist "Pam" is telling me you can't install Gorilla glass unless it came from the factory that way. Something about the dimensions being different. Has anyone else done the switch to confirm that she is full of crap?

I had a HORRIBLE experience trying to deal with safelight. Those idiots couldn't even get me the Gorilla Glass because my vehicle didn't come with Gorilla Glass. They said it "wouldn't fit". I eventually gave up on them and went with Frontier Auto Glass and they had the glass ordered and installed in under a week. From everything I researched, there is only one Gorilla Glass Part number. There are several part numbers for the non Gorilla glass depending on accessories. I'm not sure why that is, but the Gorilla Glass worked for me. Unfortunately, I don't have the adaptive cruise control...but I'm not exactly sure why that would matter?
