Welcome @Dirk! How did you spec your 4XE?

Are you planning to sell your JK or keeping both it and the 4XE?
Hi. I am planning to keep the JK, it’s 2 door that I upgraded for off roading, it’s also a manual so like that experience. The 4xe I ordered has basically all the options, color is Sting Gray including fender flares and hard top, but I kept the cloth because I don’t like how leather heats up so much in SoCal. Plus cloth avoids sliding around when off-roading. Hope it will be here soon, but don’t expect until around May.

I had a feeling you would, judging from your avatar the build looks insane.
What off-road upgrades are you planning to do on the 4XE?

Not sure yet. I need to figure out what size tires I can do without too many mods, plus a mild lift. My JK has 35s and 3.5 inch curry 8 arm suspension lift. Plus I installed elocker and upgraded all steering components with larger steering box and sector shaft (I broke my sector shaft on the trail 2 years ago).

Welcome to the forum @Dirk! What made you decide to go with the 4xe over a regular Wrangler 4 door?
I was actually looking for the diesel for a while to get better range and gas mileage. Then reading about the hybrid, and the fact we also do a lot of short distance driving, it seemed a better option.

Will you be factoring in how the 25 miles of EV range will be impacted with a wheel/tire upgrade?

Oh great! how was the diesel like to drive? I heard the torque is nuts.
The diesel is awesome, but I noticed quite some turbo lag. I also have a BMW X5 diesel which has twin scroll turbo and the lag is less notable. The great thing about the 4xe is that there should be instant torque and no lag at all, so the torque will feel even more pronounced I expect.

Ah that's a shame about the turbo lag. I'm expecting immediate torque too, after all that's the beauty of electric power, it can be delivered instantly.
