Been using the charger for a week. The temps seem to go fairly high when charging in the garage. It’s been up to 130s. I put a 50 amp fuse in the fuse box so the 32 amp charger wouldn’t overheat. Supposedly it can operate at 122 degrees ambient temperature.. the fan on the Jeep comes on quite a few times while it’s charging, and it is really really loud. Anyone else have any learnings from their level 2 charger in the garage? Thanks

When the vehicle charges the battery, it makes a lot of heat. The battery gets hot as does the charger.....both of which are located inside the vehicle. The Lectron EVSE is just a power supply and doesn't create any significant heat. Your garage gets hot because your Jeep is running the pumps to circulate fluid around the battery and on board charger and then the fans blow air over the radiator to exchange the heat (transfers the heat to your garage). If needed, the A/C compressor will cool a chiller and the coolant will exchange heat there as well.

So, it is the Jeep that is creating the heat and not your EVSE. You will get the same effect with any 30A L2 unit.

Hope this helps
