Lurching when shifting into drive from reverse

So I'm coming from a '19 2Dr V6 Sport S. I back out of our property in the morning and shift into drive. When I do the Jeep lurches forward and then drives normally. It's enough to catch me by surprise and jerk me back in my seat. It's not like flooring it, more like pushing a good 1/4 to 1/2 way down the pedal without warning. I'm curious if others are experiencing this too?

I do switch into electric mode as I'm backing up and keep it there most of the day. I am on a flat surface when switching into drive, if that matters. This doesn't seem to happen during the day, it's just that initial morning shift into drive.

Are you talking about hill assist? That can be turned off in UCONNect.

No, not hill assist.

Basically I back out on to flat pavement (in electric mode) and shift into first. As soon as I let off the brake, it lurches forward as if I'd pressed on the gas. As soon as I brake or touch the gas it acts as I'd expect.

I JUST bought this Jeep a week ago, so I'm not sure if this is normal.
how are you shifting into first you mean Drive? If you are using the paddle shifters to switch into "first" then you are turn on the ICE when doing so. If it is not that it should not be lurching. It does launch you forward as almost a normal ICE car would at idle. It is probably a little more noticeable than a normal ICE and it also some takes a sec it for it to start rolling.

Like and Idle roll?
You're correct, I mean shift into drive. (Previous Wrangler was manual, it's stuck in my head - apologies)

Here's exactly what's happening.
  • Parked, put in reverse and back up about 100 feet
  • Pull on to side street in reverse
  • Switch into drive
  • Let off brake
  • Without touching gas, car feels like I pushed somewhat hard on the gas and jumps (for lack of a better word) forward a few feet before calming down

Maybe it's because I'm coming from a manual? Our other vehicles don't do this, maybe I should try holding the brake longer. I'll experiment a bit more today.

Hope this explanation helps.

Maybe. It does launch forward so maybe that is what you are feeling to what extent I don't know. Take a video and upload here there are some people on this forum that know a lot about these 4xes
