We just sold our 2015 Rubicon which we LOVED, so we could order the new XE. Leaning toward the Sahara because thinking the 4cylinder will have better range and MPG. Although, having a hard time giving up the "Rubicon" status (ego). We would love your insight! We will do some off roading, mainly fire roads not really "rubicon trails" atleast initially. Using car also for one of our main vehicles for work and errands ect.

Welcome to the forum @jtkjeep! All 4xe's have the same 2.0L hybrid powertrain so you don't have to worry about that if you want a Rubicon.

What convinced you to switch to the 4xe from your 2015 Rubicon?

When we heard that Jeep was coming out with a hybrid/plug in that would improve the mpg and would be more eco friendly..... we felt that now was the time. Our 2015 Rubicon was in mint condition with low miles. I will be driving the new jeep xe (when we do order one) as my main vehicle with lots on in town miles. But also will be taking it out in the mountains ect.

So, why not get the Rubicon 4xe then? I live in the mountains, and coming from the Willys 2.0, my Rubicon 4xe 2.0 feels even better up here!

Did you consider the Sahara 4xe?
I didn't order, so I shopped on the lot (several). Looked at the High Altitude. The quilted seats were nice but not my style and really didn't like the painted bumper because I figured it would be a cleaning nightmare. Looked at the Sahara but couldn't get one without the one touch top which was not my favorite add. I really liked the steel bumper on the Rubicon because I won't mod it other than adding a no-mod brush guard/bull bar. It didn't have everything I wanted, but 80%, so out the door it went.

Thank you for that information. It is hard to find any in our area but they are slowly coming in. Most, we have heard, will be loaded with everything. We are still looking!

We liked the Sahara, because we thought it rode better than the Rubicon that we drove 2 years ago. Fast forward to the 2021 Rubicon I just bought. I'm very impressed with the ride and handling. It is pretty quiet on the road (hard top). I'm really glad I got the Rubicon!
