I'm trying to plan out my next tiny mod (after I'm done with the pedestrian mod speaker on/off. Just waiting on a few last cables)

Adding a light to the charge port.

Following this video to some degree...

Has anyone or does anyone know how to pull the Shroud off of the GC charge port?

You can look down between the e gone wall and the front quarter panel and see everything, but getting down in might be a bit of a pain...

I could drill up through then fish a Line up and out.

The other plus is it appears that our interior footwell light is the same as the Wrangler so @Wrangler4XEFan may have done us a solid on finding the right wire to tap to function with the lights upon lock/unlock

Lastly, anyone figure out a good firewall pop through into the driver footwell yet?

I'll look closer this weekend but working on my planning phase right now and that might be the biggest hangup.

I have a borescope/endoscope (whatever you want to call it) arriving tomorrow to dig around a bit. The biggest challenge right now may be the firewall. If I can't find a clean spot to go through, I might go to some fuse tap up front and look for a fuse that is not on constant but somehow delayed off.

There is some kind of retainer behind the "boot" but it's all pretty flexible. It appears to be just a push in place kind of clip.

I need to get a long screw driver and apply dome downward pressure to see if it will flex below the lip.

I do have some trim removal tools I might try and lightly Wedge in from the front.

I am finishing up a project with turning on and off the Pedestrian warning speaker this weekend and hope to start the process of digging into adding a light to the charge port.

I will write something up about it and take pics when I get around to it.

I think the challenge I have is finding a good firewall pass-through if I want to tap into the cabin lights vs just tapping into one of the headlights fuses up front (F54 or F68). I would prefer to find one that was tied to the inside lighting.

Alright bro, looking forward to seeing your finished product, and I did a few minutes of poking around killing time between coats of Plasti Dip: Aside from Plug shroud removal being pretty easy like I mentioned in the other thread, I found a grommet that comes out right where everything needs to be on both sides of the firewall. It's the hood release cable you were eyeballing before, but since it's molded to the two lines running through it, you do need to poke a new hole. I just put a piece of painter's tape on the tip of a scratch awl to hold a length of cord trimmer line for running as a fish tape and it went through with no resistance.

This then comes out under the driver's kickplate along the left side up from the junction box. I am going to poke a hole in that cover, as well, so it sits flush again.

It's small, the rubber will self heal around it, and you can just slather both sides in RTV if you want to be extra cautious, but it's darn near at the top of the engine compartment and under the cowl, so there's really no concern about leaks at that point anyway since you'd by then have been compromised through a number of other places including the cabin filter pass through.

I ran the trimmer line along the hood release cable within the engine compartment to keep it clear of the prop hinge and strut and to give me something to zip tie it to, under the middle cowl piece, made a sharp U-Turn and tucked it under the cowl trim, and back up the other side in the channel beneath the fender, now safely clear of any moving parts.
