I purchased a silver grand Cherokee 4xe yesterday (base), and would like to replace the factory 18” wheels with 20” black wheels. I have no experience swapping out wheels and am wondering if I should be considering 20” take offs (with or without tires) from gladiators, Saharas, etc? If do, so, what do I need to know to insure compatibility and a seamless transition? Thanks in advance, from this Jeep brand “rookie”!

21-22 GC’s changed their thread size for lug nuts to match up with Wranglers/Gladiators so either reuse yours or make sure the lug nuts you get are from a 18-current JL/20-current JT. Other than that everything is identical from what I can tell so just make sure you stick to those year for the JL & JT I listed.

Thanks! The Gladiator High Altitude wheels have that lug pattern, but also say 44.45 mm offset. Will that still be compatible?

You should be fine but I would highly recommend you get ‘smart’ on the subject. Granted this stuff isn’t rocket science but when it comes to making an expensive purchase like wheels/tires and you have little understanding then Google the hell out of it ha. Here’s an offset calculator if you know how to use it.

This is what +12mm offset looks like. If you keep the same overall diameter, there will be no rubbing. Factory offset is 50mm. So 44.45mm will move outward in the wheelwell 5.55mm. Are the 20in rims also 8in wide? I bumped up to 18x9 wheels. Definitely use the tire size calculator. If you go up in tire diameter from the stock 265/60r18, you could have problems.

I too hated the factory Base model rims. Especially the grey silver powder coating. I got lucky and found a set of OEM 2021 Trackhawk rims and tires. I might change the tires in the near future as they are run flats and weigh 6-8 pounds more that a similar sized non run flat tire. I opted for the OEM rims because they are forged and a lot lighter than other rims I found.

Hopefully the extra weight and wider tires don’t effect mile mileage too much. I will say I love the look and the truck handles so much better.

OEM Trackhawk rims are 20x10 50mm offset. The tires are 295/45/20

My Vision Ojos/ BFG KO2's weigh nearly 84lbs....so heavy. Mileage doesn't seem to be too impacted. I kind of think the unsprung rotating mass acts like a flywheel that the regen can recover the energy it takes to spin the extra mass up. Might impact my acceleration a tiny bit, but it's a Jeep not a Porsche. Snow in the mountains was fun today.

That is a great resource, thank you! Does this look right? I used the 18” tire size from my Base 4xe and the 20” tire size from another base. Then input the +50 mm offer for my current wheel, and +44 mm offset for the “proposed” high altitude wheel (actual is +44.5 mm). Thanks again!

This shouldn't be so hard. And although I have a Grand Cherokee Overland 4xe I should be able to swap wheels, tires with a Trailhawk 4xe. Not to mention put the skid plates on from there. But not seeing where anyone else has managed to do so yet so I can go ahead and try it!

I got a set of stock 20's off a 2021 WL and had them powder coated satin black and then had a third coat of clear over the satin black to give them more protection. I have Michelin defenders in 255/55-20 as the 265/50-20 in the defenders were only a 107 load index and the 255's are 110 load index rating...need this due to the 4Xe being so much heavier. I also kept my stock wheels and tires and would install those if I were going off roading...its dirty right now I should have cleaned it up before taking pics...

Any rubbing? I found a set of 2018 Trackhawk wheels, thinking about getting them. Did you need spacers?

So i just went to Jeep to order my rear cargo tray and since I also want a full size normal spare, I requested a price quote for the TH4xe wheel. It came back at 515 dollars with the GoodYear Wrangler Tire at $100. Holy smokes. I am going to look for something else - get the tire from them but the rim ? That's just too much.

They mounted up perfectly with no spacers and no rubbing. I have over 500 miles on the setup now and I can say the truck rides and handles better than before and the Pirelli Scorpions are much quieter than the factory tires. The Pirelli’s were great in a recent snow storm.
