Rattle noise in front end/engine compartment

I happily took delivery of our new 2022 GC 4xe Trailhawk last week and have loved every minute with it. Unfortunately, I'm noticing a faint but persistent rattle in the front right side at slow speeds and on bumpy pavement/roads. It doesn't seem to be the suspension as large bumps and potholes make normal road noise whereas the rattle sounds like a rock rolling and rattling in a plastic jar. I've checked under the hood and nothing is loose. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Will likely bring it to the dealer for inspection next week...

So service department called me and said the part didn't get delivered yesterday. They keep saying its coming and it doesn't. Now they claim they can't find one anywhere but yet is supposed to ship on the 8th. I told them I will live with the clunk until you actually get the part in so please put it back together and let me pick it up and we can schedule another appointment. So frustrated.
Very frustrating indeed. BTW, my dealer told me that if they found it was a bad sway bar that the part is on back order. In my case, it is NOT the sway bar...the problem with mine is both front drive shafts. Parts just came in and will be done tomorrow...will update this post.

Might be worth your dealer thoroughly checking your drive shafts before you pick it up? For mine, they finally suspected drive shafts with some play in them then they took them out and then drove it as a rear wheel drive...with that "test" sans front drive shafts the clunk was gone which lead them to replacing the drive shafts. Good luck.

Ya I will mention it when I pick up the Jeep... As of right now I have to travel for 4 days and require a vehicle. They couldn't get me into a better vehicle than the previous generation base model. I really don't want to be waiting for who knows how long for the sway bar to come off back order. So in the mean time just let me drive it. The clunk isn't horrific, just annoying when it happens.

Any update? I got mine back today. Definitely better but definitely not perfect. They will call me back in when the sway bar comes in and they plan to look at the drive shafts during the replacement.

Do you know if there’s a TSB or something I can show my dealer about the drive shaft clunk? 22 GC 4xe TH here and I weirdly just discovered the front clunking noise after taking my car on a road trip down to SoCal. Immediately heard it when I got off the freeway after driving 2 hours at 60-75 mph. After the car sat for like an hour clunking went away so it seems like it’s not as bad as what most of you have experienced, but I have a service appointment next week to have it checked out. I didn’t hear it at all even after 20-30 minute drives around LA, but during the 2 hour drive back it came back again the second I got off the freeway, and again went away after the car sat for an hour.

Well, the mystery continues as the drive shafts DID NOT fix it. They say corporate instructions are to fly someone in from the engineering department to investigate further. Dealer says it is safe to drive with option to leave it for an undetermined time or drive it clunking and bring back once engineer confirms appointment and trip details. I elected to take it home and clunk along for now. I know the dealer shares my frustrations however I am the one who paid for a new vehicle that now sounds like an old beater. I have a @JeepCares case open however that is turning into a disappointing black hole, wish they were as responsive and customer service driven as my excellent dealership service department however both the dealer and I are now at the mercy of corporate with patience quickly waning to put it lightly!

Appreciate the update. I’m no engineer but I swear it sounds like crap struts. A few people have had these replaced to no avail I think

Hey, let us know if the dealership found anything. I have the exact same case - after longer drive on the highway I can hear clunks in the front (both sides) on bumps, gravel, etc. Nothing during shorter runs in the city. It also goes away after the car has "rested" for a while. However, mine wasn't always like that. It started doing it recently. I've taken it on few road trips before and never heard clunking. Last weekend we went to eastern Washington. There is a gravel road in one of the state parks there. I am sure that it started after traveling on that road. I think that would suggest suspension rather than anything else, but who knows.

Thank you for your detailed updates....we have a scheduled appointment at another dealer after our local dlr could not diagnose....our rattling/clunking has gotten pretty consistent and more pronounced over time....hope to resolve this while still in warranty. We have also kept JeepCares informed.

That's exactly what I experienced - first noticed right after a few hours on the highway (right at 1k miles on the odometer). Would go away after cooling down, but a few hundred miles later I'm noticing it more and more on short trips around town. It's becoming more frequent - almost every trip now (warmer weather may be a factor), but not nearly as bad as after a longer trip on the highway.

Have not bothered bringing into the dealership yet since nobody seems to be having much success getting it fixed.
Those are both a little different... noises are so annoying and hard to pin down! My noise stays the same regardless of speed but is most noticable at slow speeds. Also, it seems to go away until the truck is warmed up. Will report back is the dealer is any help...
I have a new 2022 Jeep Trailhawk 4xe that makes a clunking noise coming from the front end at low speeds but only after warm up. Dealer couldn't find anything wrong when I took it in. Did you get any info or fix for your problem which sounds similar to mine.

we’re all having the same issue with same or similar model. Still on holding pattern on this thread- several things tried. Engineering is aware

I’m gonna wait to take my car in until we know more. Will likely save a lot of frustration

I have the same rattling noise in the 4xe summit. As I accelerate it gets louder and faster...almost sounds like when you have a card on a bike spoke. With higher speeds it just sounds like a vibration rattle in the front end. ive only had it for about 2 weeks. noticed the noise a week ago. Unfortunately my dealer cant run diagnostics till beginning of the year!
Did you get this fixed? I’m having the same issue.

Maybe you could help us all? I don't think anyone in this thread has had their clunk repaired... just a bunch of trail and error repairs from the dealership resulting in no resolution.

Took my car in to the dealer last week to have it checked out. Like everyone else on here they couldn't find anything obviously wrong. Performed/checked 2 RRT's (one for the transmission and another regarding a weld), and also the electronic power steering update and sent me on my way. Over the past week of commuting, I've noticed the clunking get progressively worse. Now it happens after only 20-30 minutes of driving. It's been 90-95 degrees the past few days so I assume that might have something to do with it but who knows. Hoping engineering can find a fix soon and issue a recall within the next couple months.

Sounds like the same issue...out of curiosity, what year and model do you have? Seems like most issues are with 2022 GC 4xe Trailhawk, which is what I have.

Yeah mine is a 2022 4xe Trailhawk as well, ordered in July, built end of September, and took delivery in November 2022. According to the build sheet it was "built with 2023 specs" though.

Finally repairs are complete and holy crap my vehicle was fantastic on the way home. Even when I thought my Jeep sounded good (while clunking wasn't noticeable) it feels and sounds way more "solid" now. I don't think I remember this vehicle sounding so quiet other than maybe the first part of my drive home after buying it. If it stays like this I will be very happy.

Replaced was the following.

First repair was right side strut, no better.
Second repair was sway bar links and the sway bar itself, completely fixed.

I do have to say my sway bar was very delayed coming in, not sure if they were waiting for an updated one or something as this repair hasn't fixed it for others. If this vehicle is really fixed of its clunk Ill be a happy camper.

If you could give us an update in a month or so- would be great! Thanks to all in the thread
