Hello everyone!

We have been seeing reports of dealerships saying they are not performing ZB7. The recall has not been put on hold. The dealer instructions have been updated to help avoid any concerns that may arise after completion. They also have resources on the back end that are helping to mitigate any potential concerns.

Please reach out to us on this thread or via private message if there is anything we can help with regarding this recall or your dealer. We are happy to help!

Thank you,
Jeep Cares

Most of the discussion that we have seen regarding recalls placed on hold has actually be in regards to ZE1 for the Grand Cherokee. The only discussion I have seen regarding ZB7 has been a few dealers that have claimed they were not able to perform the update due to the presence of an uncleared CEL.

Some have posted that the dealer refused to do the ZB7 because it could cause a CEL,lol. That's a good thing ! Some of the dealers have no clue. Jeep If you're listening I hope the update instructions include having them check PIDs for a locked coolant heater after the update before sending people on their way. Many have gotten a cel from minutes to days after the recall which is part of what ZB7 was supposed to address. BTW if you get a cel after the update the coolant heater was bad before the recall , after the update a failed coolant heater will trigger a cel.

I took my wrangler 4xe into Oregon NWJeep dealer for trade in and they told me the open recall had no remedy. Tried offering me a ridiculous amount of trade in value. $10k under KBB. I have since scheduled my service with Tonkin Jeep near my home in hopes to remedy the recall.

Tonkin on McLoughlin gave me some bad info about this recall. Maybe they know better now but I ended up at Dick's Wilsonville . They have a much better service department. I don't know about Tonkin Hillsboro . Tonkin has split up and the dealerships are owned by different companies.

A 3rd Dealer Performed ZB7 causing a P0E15-00 condition. Three faults on their part had me spending considerable time searching for a more competent Dealer while waiting for a replacement ECH. Would've been the 4th if successful.
  1. They released my Unit without checking/testing (manually scan PIM?). I left the dealership with reduced functionality (CEL, no remote start and basically a continuation of 10 more weeks in Limp Mode).
  2. The only diagnostics was to consult FCA references on P015-00. Still no acknowledgement on "Fuel Oil Refresh Mode". Only feedback, the focus now on a replacement ECH to clear CEL and nothing more.
  3. Inability to associate this to a chronic "Fuel Oil Refresh Mode" which I log as an issue on every dealer service visit but, down-played with irrelevant copy/paste explanation from S2208000020RevA
All over the internet but, I could not grab anyone's attention on that chronic "Fuel Oil Refresh Mode" which in fact was NOT NORMAL.

Working the ZB7 fall-out ended-up resolving the "Fuel Oil Refresh Mode" problem which by-the-way is not safety related. The Recall's description is safety related with it's vague indication:
An engine shutdown condition may result in an unexpected loss of motive power while driving, which can cause a vehicle crash while driving

What if ZB7 was not implemented? I would still be in "Fuel Oil Refresh Mode" while being told "It's Normal". Should we classify every 4XE issue as a safety issue so that we are heard and receive action?
No thanks to Rev-A of that STAR publication which put all 3 Dealers on the wrong track as they would not acknowledge "Fuel Oil Refresh Mode" as an issue. There should be a Rev-B stating Dealer Techs should listen to the Customer and perform diagnostics!
