So I was looking on the VW Taos forum (since I’m currently Jeep-less, and Jeep won’t provide a loaner or pay for the rental I found) and people are talking about how the engine suddenly shut off while driving. Maybe this is going to be the new norm when you buy a new car with all the tech they are now putting in theses vehicles. I don’t know - just raising a question. I’m going to go google Subaru Crosstrek forum and see what they are saying.

I think Subaru would be better. The Japanese seem to keep things simple and avoid that drive by wire feeling. I'm not sure if there is anything fundamentally different with the architecture of Japanese control systems.

FCA automotive modules remind me some of how German vehicles work. I'm not sure if that's the result of the prior involvement with Mercedes.

I haven’t found similar problems mentioned on Subaru forums.
