My wife and I took a long road trip and on our way back, I noticed a sound coming from behind the dash that sounded like a leaf stuck in a fan. Subtle sound but annoying nonetheless. After some perusing on the Internet, I had discovered that the Jeep has an in cabin air temperature sensor fitted with a small fan to pull air into the sensor. This made sense as the sound would occur when I would turn the car on without the HVAC operating. The following shows the location of the sensor and the following image with the valance removed.

I was able to confirm that the sound was originating from this little contraption and is covered by warranty.
