Well, I just did the unthinkable...

I just returned from my dealership and ordered a MY23 Summit Reserve and MY23 Trailhawk (both 4xe, of course).

The Summit Reserve will be identical to my current one plus the High Altitude Package and Rear Entertainment system.
The Trailhawk will also be the same but will have currently missing Luxury Tech Group III and Rear Entertainment.

I was planning on ordering the Trailhawk in Midnight Sky with the black wheels and Pano-Roof as well but neither the black wheels nor the Pano-Roof are currently available to order (checked with two dealers). I did not want to mix the grey painted wheels with the Midnight Sky so I went with the matching Baltic Gray again.

Dealer agreed on kbb trade-in value for good condition +$1,000 for each trade-in at time of delivery and the agreed upon price for the new ones will be 5% below invoice.

Based on the current lease offer, my monthly lease-payment will actually go down (Summit Reserve will be $100/month less while the Trailhawk will be $50/month more).
Not bad considering the upgrades.

In addition, it appears that there will be some nice equity to pocket in those two vehicles. How much exactly is difficult to tell because the trade-in value is likely to go down 'til the day of delivery. However, so will be the pay-off of my current rides.

Let's see how this is going to turn out... ;)

This is getting really strange now.

When I'm going to jeep.com and look at the payment estimator, it appears they also deleted the "Southeast BC Federal State Regional Bonus Cash" of $1,000.

That still showed up the day I ordered (I assume that might be one that would be locked in due to my order). I'm not too concerned about this but it's really something unusual that incentives are being taken away/changed within an active lease period.

And if they decided to delete it and take it off the calculator to be as accurate as possible, how come they STILL show the full $7,500? I don't get it..
And the confusion is reaching its peak - LOL!

I just posted on the Edmunds-forum, inquiring about the tax credit and here we go:

LOL! I guess they are asking you, Mllcb42, four your "source" now... ;)
See less See more
Multiple sources (including many dealer websites) are showing it reduced down to $3750.

Others are conflicting obviously.

It isnt clear if the reduction went into effect immediately, if it got flowed out early ahead of a May 1 effective date, or if someone screwed up something.

Ive been trying to get some confirmation of whats actually going on, but havent had much luck yet.
I guess we'll see...LOL!
Well, that was quick.

I already got the VON- & VIN-#s.

The Trailhawk is already scheduled for production while the Summit Reserve isn't.

What's super funny is the VIN-#s I'm going to have.

Trailhawk will be ending in xxxxxx6
Summit Reserve will be xxxxxx7

The x's will be identical on both - true siblings, I guess... 😂
That is way cool! Kind of like having sequential-serial 1911's. Wonder if they'll be worth more in the future if you sell them as a pair!

Who knows - LOL! Could very well be I'm going to trade them in at the same time... :)

I just thought this was funny. When I'm looking at my order-#s, they are 62 apart from each other which makes this even more interesting.
Don't forget to get the jeep.com $1000 off private offer to sweeten the deal a bit more. You can probably get 2 so you can do one for each
Just received the private offer in my mother's name by e-mail - so thanks again for that!(y)

Says it can be transferred to close relatives within the same household.
I'll have to check if I will get one as well. In the fine print, it says only one certificate per customer and only one per e-mail/postal address.

What I don't know yet if that restriction only applies to one vehicle.

I also generated my one remaining Affiliate Rewards Control Number for this year (used the other one on the Summit in January). By handing that to the dealer, I should receive another 1% off invoice (so about $800 if applied to the Summit Reserve).
I just signed on a deal today that had the full $7500 applied... from a dealer whose website shows $3750.

Spoke to someone high up in jeep that reached out to some contacts and they're showing the may sheets still having $7500, so I don't know what's going on. It may be that someone input the wrong I formation into one of the databases that dealers pull incentives from.

Thanks for the update!

Could very well be that whoever entered the information assumed that the new guidelines applied to buying and leasing.

I googled "tax incentive Grand Cherokee 4xe $7,500" and almost every hit showed $7,500 in the search results but when you clicked on it, it showed a CCAP credit of $3,750 as well as a SFS credit of $3,750. I had to google again what SFS actually was and it returned "Stellantis Financial Services". I had no clue they even existed - LOL!

You may have sequential VONs because you ordered them both at the same time. But VINs are typically not assigned for a while - weeks after the order. I am surprised you say you have sequential VINs and that you have them so soon. I had a VON within days and took 2 months for a VIN.

Surprised me as well.

I'm thinking that the "gap" in the VONs is based on the fact that additional orders were placed nationwide after the dealer submitted my first order and during the time he put together (and submitting) the second.

The VINs are actually what's sequential. This could be because the VIN might also be somewhat tied to the dealership. While there were additional orders placed by other dealers during the submission of my orders, my particular dealer probably submitted mine in a row with no other in between.

Of course, when I try to look up those VINs under the usual link, it does not return a result yet. This will probably take until assembly. Same, of course, applies to the build sheets.
But VINs are typically not assigned for a while - weeks after the order.
My last two grand cherokee orders had vins assigned within 12 hours. My Wrangler orders were a day or two max.
Of course, those are just the theoretical numbers as of today. I have no idea how this will actually turn out but I can't see myself NOT being in a better position afterwards.
Wait - what? Since you put it out there, I have to ask, you bought two new Grand Cherokees? To replace your ‘old’ pair of Grand Cherokees? They have very low mileage on them? Or is one a wrangler? Lots of kids thing, or you just really like the Grand Cherokee? Just curious. God bless ya! :)

I leased the two I have right now and those will be replaced.

They do have very low mileage. The Trailhawk is @ 4,500 miles and the Summit Reserve @ 1,900 miles.

The tax credit that was applied directly to the leases makes this possible. I will probably get some cash, switch to MY23 with additional options and on top of that, will likely be able to lower my monthly lease payment.

And yes, I really like the Grand Cherokee in general. (y)

Sources are starting to show the $7500 back for ccap and sfs, so it's looking like someone screwed up inputting information into the databases

Why am I not surprised? LOL! ;)
Yup, when I was googling yesterday, I also saw these $3,750 listings.

As I mentioned, that was the first time I even heard of Stellantis Financial Services.
Stellantis financial is the captive bank for CDJR that got stood up maybe 6 months ago.

Ccap is actually a 3rd party bank (Santander) that licenses the Chrysler name as a DBA.

They've been trying to cut ties with Santander for a while, so we are seeing a gradual transition.
