Honestly, the fact that another update hasn't been push is incredibly irresponsible. Any other update to software that can possibly lead to safety issues is taken care of within 12 hours - engineers working 24/7 to fix the issue. It's amazing that I've been able to get more information here, Reddit and Facebook than I have the actual company, and that speaks volumes.
Amen. They horribly incompetent.

Hi everyone,

This is a telematics box module update, not a radio software update; for those who received the update, it will not change that radio software version.

The update was canceled yesterday evening (10/10/25); however, if your vehicle had already downloaded it, even if you have not seen the pop-up screen yet, we do not have a way to cancel that and remove it from your vehicle.

We are continuing to receive information in real time and will post back when we have specific instructions from our engineering teams about exactly what we can do to help everyone.

your negligence could have gotten me and a thousand others killed. wranglers are stopping dead on the HIGHWAY. the highway where most of us are doing 60+mph. dealerships are charging us over $200 for this. i am a marine corps wife, and we haven’t gotten paid due to the shutdown, so i can’t even afford to have them “look” at my car—plus, why should we, as owners, pay for your mess up? i would sue if i was in the position to do so. this lazy and unfinished update is leaving thousands of us stranded with a brick instead of a car. if someone dies from this, expect a damn big lawsuit—i’d be joining that.

Same thing happened to my 2024. Updated before going into dinner. Didn't make it 100 yards after dinner. Looks like AAA will be called to tow it to the dealer.

For those of us that are being prompted to install it, can we defer it in perpetuity or will it eventually install on its own?
For the telematics box module update, you can continue deferring. This type of update will not 'force' through.

Wait. The TBM can take an OTA update?

I mean, yes, the TBM has the cell modem on it so it sure as hell shouldn't be behind the SGW but the TBM has full-data access to the vehicle, so it also shouldn't be accepting OTA updates.

Frankly, the TBM existing is a massive data security issue anyway but since a malfunctioning TBM can brick the vehicle (as y'all have so publicly demonstrated) it certainly should not be able to OTA update.

Agreed that this should not be an OTA update. I work in IT for a large organization. We allow for basic driver updates (video, audio, LAN/WLAN, etc) to be installed automatically but do not let BIOS or firmware updates go out automatically. Those are only installed manually by IT staff.

Seems like the TBM update should be something dealers install when a vehicle is in the shop.

Hi everyone,

We are awaiting further information from our software engineering teams that are currently investigating this issue. I will post here when I have further information.

Earlier today we had success with customers not using hybrid or electric mode. Please exercise extreme caution this evening if you have completed the update. If you have NOT completed the update and see the pop-up, please continue deferring so that the update does not go through. For a telematics box module update, you can defer infinitely, and it will expire within 30 days.

Our expectation is that the dealer network will have documentation available Monday morning for any vehicles that have been towed over the weekend alerting them to next steps (which are still in process of being developed) to ensure that no one is charged for a diagnostic fee.

Thank you to everyone who has provided VINs so far.

It is bricking in ALL modes. You really should stop advising people to drive in gas mode. Hopefully some Plaintiffs attorneys are screenshotting this horrible advice.

Our current recommendation is to drive in gas mode; please do not choose hybrid or electric mode at this time.

More information to come as we get it.

Driving in e-Save (gas mode) changes nothing. The Jeep still shuts off. 1 of the 3 times this happened during my most recent loop around the neighborhood I actually lost power steering. This is extremely dangerous!

Will tow fees and rental fees be reimbursed??

This is not only irresponsible but dangerous. Ours stopped in an intersection! We could have been killed! Jeep hasn’t communicated with anyone. The dealerships are in the dark but you’ve made them the point of contact. I need my vehicle just like every other owner. Rolling out an update on a Friday is bad enough but to choose a weekend where Monday is a federal holiday is even more insulting. I’ve never been more disappointed in Jeep. People should be working around the clock to resolve this. Do better, Jeep. Stop pushing the blame on UConnect. They may be the issue but we purchased from Jeep and expect a resolution from JEEP. Uconnect has been trash for years yet here we are still dealing with their problems.
I’ll continue to say it - this could kill people!!!!!! Is that not enough for Jeep to actually care?

They're not blaming uConnect at this point.

They said it's a telematics update, and the telematics box is very much not uConnect territory. It's Stellantis territory.
