We have a 2022 Jeep GC 4XE Bought in Jan 2023. We have been at the dealer three times now with the infamous front end noise. We describe it as a resonant clanking noise. When i say resonant I mean it sounds like something making nouse inside of something hollow. First time we took it in they said they didnt hear anything but did replace parts. NO CHANGE. Second time claimed they might have heard something. Replaced more parts. NO CHANGE. Third & longest time they had it replaced parts. NO CHANGE. We have contacted them a 4th time and they all but ignored us for some time not answering emails for over a week and now claim they have no loaners. We paid 70k for this car! We are beyond frustrated. We like the car but the noise is unbearbable. We only drive in town mostly on bumpy roads and its like you are in a 70k wagon or a car with a worn out suspension. We are new to JEEP. Ive looked up the value of the car just now and I am in shock that it has fallen 20k in 9 months with only 2500 miles. I just want out of this car and back to Mercedes. We are not difficult people., we buy cars, we drive them off them lot and we dont go back till we need routine service or we want another one. Ive never experienced anything like this. I did not notice the noise while test driving , but heard within days of driving it and immediately told them. Im interested in the Lemon Law. What do you have to do for that. Does it cost money?

same issue. Front struts replaced, end links replaced, upper control arm (right) replaced. In process of replacing lower control arm. It is definitely an issue as I drove another 4xe overland on the lot that did not make that sound. Currently in the lemon law process with attorney. Purchased Feb 2023 and has been in 4 times over 50 days for this issue. Current tech working on it says there’s definitely something going on but it may be inside a part so much harder to find a solution
Any luck getting this fixed or getting anywhere with the lemon law? I’m having the same issue/ sounds and had it at the dealership many times with no luck. Dropping it off again tomr. Thanks!

I purchased a 23 Overland 4xe May 4 and noticed the clunking front suspension within the first week of owning it. Started researching and found that I wasn't alone. Brought it back to dealer to inspect and determined front right strut. Had that replaced when parts came in, end of June. I've had it back for about 2 weeks now with no change in the clunking. Started a case with Jeep wave and have an appt to bring it back to dealer July 31 to have the claims advisor begin to direct action.
What ended up happening? I’m having the same issue! They replaced a strut on mine too with no change to the noise.

I'm in the middle east and have 2023 Overland. Low speed clunking noise on the front suspension over smallest of bumps. Waited 5-weeks for parts and apparently changed the 'tension struts' but it did clear the problem...for now.

I do notice though that when exceeding 90kph (56mph) that the ride smoothness deteriorates, not sure if this is related to the suspension/steering set up or more aerodynamics...anyone else having the same? It's very minor and only really noticeable when driving, not as passenger but still very annoying.

Hi, 2024 GC Trailhawk 4xe. It developed the hollow sound when going over uneven ground. Thanks to this forum and others I figured the issue was the sway bar assembly. I brought it back to the dealer (1,500 miles). I told them what I thought it was, they confirmed my suspicion. I was informed by the dealer that there is not estimate on the part delivery, they don't know when it will be in. Then they informed me that it is safe to drive with an unknown problem in the sway bar assembly. "Hi Paul, our service manager is out sick and we are not sure when he will return. The part we are replacing will be the front auto disconnect sway bar assembly. There should be no problem driving through the mountains as long as the sway bar is connected which it is at this time. The disconnect is designed to be used in slow speed off road situations. If you have any more questions I will be happy to answer them." I'm worried about driving with a broken sway bar assembly!!! Would that concern y'all?

Bought a new 04 Trailhawk in December. A week later I drove 16 hours round trip to a funeral. A few days after Christmas, I drove 12 hours to visit a friend for a week, then 12 hours home. A few days into the new year I made another 16 hour round trip drive. This is unusual for me, I typically don't take road trips. I am just under 5k miles and I have had the clunk for a while. I first noticed it during the second trip. Made an appointment at the dealership where I purchased the vehicle for the day after my return. A tech rode with me and told me the noise is from the shock bottoming out and that it was normal. Now I feel like the noise is getting worse.

This morning as I took my kid to school it was rough. It feels like its getting to the point where it could be a safety issue. I thought that either the vehicle was poorly designed, or it isn't working as designed, but I am almost certain this isn't just the shock bottoming out. That isn't going to happen at 10 mph while turning onto my street.

I'm going to make another appointment. If anyone has found any resolution to the problem, please let me know.

Thanks,
Michael

I have the exact same problem.. took it to the dealership twice and they changed a whole bunch of stuff and still makes the same noise... Jeep NEEDS to come out with a TSB on this so the dealerships know how to fix this..... @JeepCares

I just noticed, why is Jeep Cares Canadian?!?!?!?

For what its worth Jeep Cares if you care... my 23 Jeep 4xe Overland has no noise for now... knock on wood. Hope I won't ever have to have a chat with you. :p

Has anyone definitively solved this?

I have a 2023 TH 4xe. Has had the clunk since the beginning. Has been in four times now: 1) "huh, we don't notice it; 2) pinch bolts (they said this would fix it); 3) replaced lower control arms (said this would fix it); 4) tightened everything....still hasn't fixed it. It's getting worse, not better. I have a case open with @JeepCares , but they are completely unresponsive. The dealer is saying that there is nothing they can do to fix it.

I have worked with a lemon law attorney but WI law requires it to be off the road for 30 days in the first year and since I keep driving it, they said it's a sstretch. I've asked Jeep to buy it back but again, @JeepCares is unresponsive. I have owned 5 grand cherokees over 30 years, including a 1993, a 1997, a 2007 and a 2017 in addition to this 2023. My 2017 is still in the driveway with 140K miles on the odometer. It too is a Trailhawk. It has never made a noise like this. No sane person would drive this and think "oh, that's normal."

I have a 23 Trailhawk 4XE with the same issue. The air suspension clunks in the front and rides really stiff. I did find a workaround. I called a Chrysler master tech as I used to run a Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram Fiat dealer for a couple years. He said they have seen a handful with air suspension having the same issue. They’ve determined it is a module that is not turning on properly allowing the semi active suspension to initiate. The workaround is to either put the vehicle in E save mode or sport mode for about 30 seconds of driving then you can put it back into auto and hybrid and the noise should go away along with the ride smoothing out and no clunking. They do not have the modules available to replace yet, so every time I get in my Jeep I put it in sport mode and drive it for the first 30 seconds then switch it to auto and the problem gets bypassed.

There is far more than a "handful." But thank you. Oddly, mine has been into the shop 5 times. A regional rep for Jeep has been out and I have a @JeepCares case open. But yet no one has ever said what you just said and in fact they keep saying the noise is normal.

Thanks! Same issue on my 22 Overland. I’ve been pressing/ pulling and holding the + paddle to turn on ICE for a bit then going back to electric. Takes care of clunk and harsh ride. Darn the default ride in electric mode is rough!

also - are you able to give us name of part/ part number?

Just purchased a preowned 23 Overland with 17,000 miles. One prior owner who had it as lease. Bought vehicle on 10/31/24 and noticed the clunking and metal "popping" sounds coming from the rear suspension when driving. I drove a gas powered overland on the dealer lot, which made the same motor noise however the clunking and metal popping sounds were not present. Took back to dealer the next day, and they test drove a similar 4xe overland on their lot, and stated "tech determined noise coming from suspension is a design characterisitic of vehicle" and did not repair anything. I find it hard that all the clunking sounds coming from the rear, even when driving on a flat surface is BAU. Has anyone had any success with involving jeep cares or returning back to the dealer to replace any rear vehicle parts?

note the noises coming from the rear, are seperate from the "humming" sound of the air suspension motor.
