I didn't need a new panel and I had my electrician install two plugs. $120 for each plug. It was also near the panel, but he normally doesn't charge anymore for the distance from the panel. This is a great price in the Houston area. Might be more elsewhere.

I also live in Houston and plan to install a level 2 outlet. Can I have the name the company? i'd like to get a quote. Thanks!

My electrician charged me $379 for the install including all labor and materials including a new breaker and outlet. It is about 15' away from my breaker box. I could have done it myself but as usual it would have taken 4 trips to Home Depot and I would wonder if my house would burn down or I violated any electrical wiring codes. Instead I drank a cold drink while I waited the hour for the install to occur then plugged in my Grizzley and was charging away.
