2023 JLU Rubicon 4xe. First time pan gasket was replaced. Now a hundred miles or so later, it's leaking again. About to set up a second appointment. Rear of transmission pan - unsure of it if's coming from higher, but appears to be pan gasket and pan bolt area from what I can tell.
So put me down for twice on the same Jeep, second time not yet fixed.

Just heard on mine - they said it fits the STAR case that everyone else has mentioned. Said they expect the case to be active by Monday.
one other note
Has anyone noticed a slight vibration every now and then while on the freeway going between 55 and 65 in high gear. This could be related. Perhaps causing the failure????

I started a thread on this a while ago as well. Just got my Jeep back after getting the transmission replaced and… it’s already leaking again. My best hope is that this is just some excess fluid from the installation or something, but if not, it will be the third time I’ll be bringing it into the shop for the transmission.

Updating this string

Recap....

Our 2023 Overland 4Xe went in for the steering shaft recall on 6/5. No issue with the shaft.
At that time it was serviced and it was discovered that the transmission was leaking.
On 6/5 I opened a Jeep Cares Case.
Work was completed and It was returned to us on 6/15.

On 6/28 it was leaking again and was towed to the dealer.
Called Jeep Cares on 6/28 - The case # was extended on 6/28.

I've heard nothing from Jeep Cares so I called them today (7/10).
Now they are telling me my case is in dispute - whatever that means.
Then they said there is nothing they can do as the Jeep is in the BuyBack department.
I never asked for a buyback - I just want the car fixed, in a timely manner.

As far as Stellantis - the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing.

Called the dealer and they told me they are working on getting the transmission leak reported to engineering so that a replacement can be ordered.
They know nothing regarding a buyback.

FYI - If you have an intermittent burning smell you most likely have the 4Xe transmission issue....

Does anyone have a specific case number, a STAR case reference or number? I have a feeling I'm going to need to compile all of this info in another month. Here's the current story -

Dropped off our JLU Rubicon 4xe at the dealership yesterday, August 22nd.
Today, the 23rd, they called and said they washed it all off, a thoroughly cleaning job yesterday and drove it - and drove it - and drove it and finally after a long drive getting it hot (not hard when it's 100 degrees outside) they got it to leak again. I noticed the same -
short drives = no leak;
long drive = leak.

They said this time they were going to order a PAN and gasket and replace both pan and gasket.
Last time they replaced only the gasket. They originally said pan but I think he meant to say "pan gasket" not "pan AND gasket".

I told them that either this fixes it - or next time they contact STAR and talk about a new transmission.

They did use every method they could think of to look for cracks, porous casting, obvious issues, and said it's definitely not coming from anything above - the fluid is isolated to the joint between pan and transmission housing.

I tend to agree as when I took my fingers, and even a white paper towel to areas above the pan mounting flange on the case, it came came back dry. Fluid is always only at the flange or below.
So hopefully tomorrow we get it back - fixed. But - not hopeful.

So if it leaks again, I'll be looking for any numbers, examples, STAR cases or whatever, so I can go in armed and get them to not try simple stuff many times hoping like a fisherman that this time, with the same bait in the same lake, they get a fish.

They replaced the pan on ours. It still leaked. It has to be some sort of machining issue. They are putting you thru the same process we went thru.
Now 10 weeks later they are planning to finish the transmission replacement this week.

You should open a case with Jeep Cares and demand to be referred to the customer retention department. They should be compensating you for all of this. We are at the point of either accepting compensation or they buy it back.

I'm going to let them do the pan thing and go from there. If it leaks again, I'll contact Jeep customer service (or JeepCares) and start something with them BEFORE contacting the dealership.
If this fixes it, great (but bet it doesn't)
If it leaks again - I'll be contacting Jeep, looking for STAR cases, numbers, specifics and then go into the dealership fore-armed with a bunch of facts and figures.

Ours is getting another transmission. I hate to use the word "new" since often it's a remanufactured unit and not fresh off the boat from Germany. I really wonder how many got "new" vs. what the industry norm often is - remanufactured.
Went in on November 7th for the same leak (after gasket, then pan and gasket) and they said "it's residual from the last time" and I blew a gasket myself.
Took it home late on the 7th and after "discussions" they came and got it on the 8th and it's been there since. They finally contacted STAR (who was hard to get to respond to them) and the regional tech rep and got approval to "release" a transmission for it. Transmission arrived this past Monday and they are currently "working on it".

For anyone who has these leaks they all need the transmission replaced. The trans case is defective and is porous allowing fluid to leak directly through the metal.

replacing the gasket does not fix it, and we’ve been getting replacement transmissions in that were literally leaking during storage and transport for the same defect. They’re hit or miss.

Yes, but Jeep insists on other things first. You can't just go in with a leak and say "I want my transmission replaced". Doesn't work that way. They will insist on a gasket, then pan and gasket, and go from there. Some may skip the gasket bit and go right to pan and gasket. They don't want to replace a transmissions worth thousands when there's still a chance of a gasket leak.
