Does anyone have a specific case number, a STAR case reference or number? I have a feeling I'm going to need to compile all of this info in another month. Here's the current story -

Dropped off our JLU Rubicon 4xe at the dealership yesterday, August 22nd.
Today, the 23rd, they called and said they washed it all off, a thoroughly cleaning job yesterday and drove it - and drove it - and drove it and finally after a long drive getting it hot (not hard when it's 100 degrees outside) they got it to leak again. I noticed the same -
short drives = no leak;
long drive = leak.

They said this time they were going to order a PAN and gasket and replace both pan and gasket.
Last time they replaced only the gasket. They originally said pan but I think he meant to say "pan gasket" not "pan AND gasket".

I told them that either this fixes it - or next time they contact STAR and talk about a new transmission.

They did use every method they could think of to look for cracks, porous casting, obvious issues, and said it's definitely not coming from anything above - the fluid is isolated to the joint between pan and transmission housing.

I tend to agree as when I took my fingers, and even a white paper towel to areas above the pan mounting flange on the case, it came came back dry. Fluid is always only at the flange or below.
So hopefully tomorrow we get it back - fixed. But - not hopeful.

So if it leaks again, I'll be looking for any numbers, examples, STAR cases or whatever, so I can go in armed and get them to not try simple stuff many times hoping like a fisherman that this time, with the same bait in the same lake, they get a fish.

They replaced the pan on ours. It still leaked. It has to be some sort of machining issue. They are putting you thru the same process we went thru.
Now 10 weeks later they are planning to finish the transmission replacement this week.

You should open a case with Jeep Cares and demand to be referred to the customer retention department. They should be compensating you for all of this. We are at the point of either accepting compensation or they buy it back.

I'm going to let them do the pan thing and go from there. If it leaks again, I'll contact Jeep customer service (or JeepCares) and start something with them BEFORE contacting the dealership.
If this fixes it, great (but bet it doesn't)
If it leaks again - I'll be contacting Jeep, looking for STAR cases, numbers, specifics and then go into the dealership fore-armed with a bunch of facts and figures.

Aug 30th - they are still working on ours...... no word on when we get it back. Not a word from the dealer.

Did you ever get it fixed? I dropped mine off before thanksgiving for leak. They said they ordered a new transmission pan and gasket but no ETA of delivery of parts. I looked online and see them available from multiple parts suppliers.

When ours was in back in August, they got the pan and gasket literally overnight.
Still didn't fix it so it went back in this month/November and is in the process of having a new transmission installed at this time. That took about a week to get.

Yes they tried all of the things you mentioned. A new transmission fixed the problem. Several thousand miles later and all is good.

Ours is getting another transmission. I hate to use the word "new" since often it's a remanufactured unit and not fresh off the boat from Germany. I really wonder how many got "new" vs. what the industry norm often is - remanufactured.
Went in on November 7th for the same leak (after gasket, then pan and gasket) and they said "it's residual from the last time" and I blew a gasket myself.
Took it home late on the 7th and after "discussions" they came and got it on the 8th and it's been there since. They finally contacted STAR (who was hard to get to respond to them) and the regional tech rep and got approval to "release" a transmission for it. Transmission arrived this past Monday and they are currently "working on it".

Just took our 2021 4xe in for the same transmission leak. Was told they ordered a new transmission pan as the original had a manufacturers defect. Supposed to be in tomorrow and fixed. Will keep this post informed of the results. Only has 6,200 miles on it…

For anyone who has these leaks they all need the transmission replaced. The trans case is defective and is porous allowing fluid to leak directly through the metal.

replacing the gasket does not fix it, and we’ve been getting replacement transmissions in that were literally leaking during storage and transport for the same defect. They’re hit or miss.

Yes, but Jeep insists on other things first. You can't just go in with a leak and say "I want my transmission replaced". Doesn't work that way. They will insist on a gasket, then pan and gasket, and go from there. Some may skip the gasket bit and go right to pan and gasket. They don't want to replace a transmissions worth thousands when there's still a chance of a gasket leak.

So if it does go the whole way and the transmission is replaced ----is that the end of issues with leaks?
