Looks like Stellantis is just kicking the can down the road because they know ultimately all these batteries need replacing, even the batteries they previously replaced for the B9A and 04B recalls, and there is also a very good chance they don't even know if the newer ones that are not part of this 95B recall have additional problems. They should stop making 4xes period, full stop, Stellantis probably waiting to see if the gravy train subsides get axed in January. 100K+ vehicles are affected, which will cost a couple billion dollars, and they don't exactly have the capacity to even start replacing these batteries, then what happens if they still need to further replace the replacements down the road. It's very obvious Stellantis doesn't care about customers, and is trying to work out behind the scenes how this fiasco will not bankrupt them, they sure as hell should not get any government bailout. I'm basically at the point of, just gimme above resale value, so I can go buy a damn Tesla.
Pretty sure Jeep makes SUVs, not batteries. I’ve had my 2022 Rubicon 4xe for 18 months and I’ve been very pleased with it. These are new cars with new tech. If you don’t want problems just buy the tried and true ICE power plants!

Well there you go, one guy is "very pleased" so everyone else STFU! :p

Warranty is through Stellantis/Jeep, they bear the financial burden regardless of the manufacturer of the individual components🤷‍♂️

This morning when I called the service dept where I leased my 2024 Wrangler for an earlier appt than Jan 3 2025 for the recall I lucked out. The service dept hadn't opened yet, and I asked to whom I was speaking. Long story short, he was one of the two Master Technician's there. He went thru the whole procedure of what he has to do. Today he was taking out one of their own recalled Wranglers and were testing the procedure. I then called back when the Service Dept opened and I was told that if everything treks with the procedure today they have they will then call the 6 people on their list to reschedule.

Well I have an appointment with my dealer for next Monday. I spoke with the service manager and he sounded like he had reviewed the procedure and had high confidence in his tech who would perform the process. But then again I would expect nearly every SM to speak that way about his service center. Maybe some would say they don't feel ready to take on this and recommend you search out a SC that has more experience with the hybrid system

Here is the question I would like to have addressed. Are they looking for a small number of batteries that were assembled with defective separators, or are they testing for degradation of the separators in all the batteries? If it's the first then it will be a relative simple fix of replacing those batteries. If it is a breakdown issue then is the update testing for a pass/fail condition at the time of the procedure and if so will it continue to monitor the state of the separators and throw a code if sometime in the future they degrade to a point where the battery pack will need a replacement? The latter will be much more concerning to all of us.

Nailed it. ☝

It has to be the second one; the recall procedure involves charging to 75%, updating the software on several modules the executing a series of accelerate/decelerate actions (with instructions issued by Stellantis' server in realtime).

You wouldn't do that if you were just looking for specific batches of hardware.

(Whether it adds any ongoing monitoring isn't obvious, but it'd certainly be stupid for them not to.)

If the vehicle fails they keep the vehicle? The is crazy.
Agreed. But currently they don’t know if your Jeep has a bad battery, so they tell you to take precautions. Once they KNOW you have a bad battery, they can’t let you take the vehicle. I’m guessing legalities. I’ve heard someone got a call from their SC and was told to come pick up a loaner until a battery is ready. I’m sure not all can provide this, hopefully mine can if needed. <- he says with fingers crossed.

Apparently the warranty work makes provision for a rental, which seems to be a dog and pony show, Jeep says you get a rental, but then there is some disconnect when people ask for a rental.

None of our 4xe Wranglers (2021-2024) have exhibited any problems. Two are under the recall. It's not a "Jeep thing" it's a Samsung thing since they manufactured the batteries. Given that, the same battery tech is in other products so I surmise there are other shoes to drop elsewhere. If there is a lesson to be learned, it is for our leaders not getting too far over their skis pushing (mandating) something as the end-all-be-all solution without serious analysis of the consequences creating an entirely new set of hair-on-fire "problems to solve".

We love our 4xe Wranglers. One is is over 3yrs in service and well past 100,000 miles now and no measurable range degradation and needed nothing other than std lube and filter maintenance and a set of tires (brakes still like new). So I'm saying people shouldn't wig out too much.🤷‍♂️
Absolutely no problems with m2021 4xe, and I'm very happy with it. My only complaint is that the navigation map update procedure is inconvenient in comparison to my C43.

I'm very distraught as all the 4xe owners are, my loyalty has been with Jeep over 30 or 40 yrs, I've owned many "Jeep" vehicles in my lifetime, I'll be 72 in a couple of weeks, I currently own a Wrangler Sahara 4xe, I ordered back in 2021, I purchased upon it's arrival March of 2022. I was very excited to see it but was very disappointed when I saw how the batteries were placed and the lack of space when the back seats were folded! I was even more disappointed when there wasn't an embroidered SAHARA logo on my seats, nor a SAHARA on the body above Wrangler! I paid a he'll of a lot for this Jeep & now it didn't display the prestigious news! Now it's valued as something low in resale! I have traded in my Jeeps after 2years in service, when there's the highest resale value, I about fell out of my chair when it's value fell over $20K! I was livid! I know my DEALER, owner felt very bad but his hands were tied, he tried to sympathize with me by increasing the trade-in value. It wasn't satisfactory to me, I still had an unblemished, beautiful black SAHARA, my vehicle was pristine, as all my Jeep trade-ins are! I'm still complimented often, as to how NICE a Jeep it is!
I've sent a certified
Great trolling- kudos!
