This update will be installed and that will determine whether your battery is faulty and needs to be replaced??
Correct. How it makes that determination isn't clear yet, but that's (at least part of) what is included in the software update.

Updated battery packs have been making their way into vehicles in for service for a while now.
Ok so if new battery inventory is not the bottleneck, then what the heck is taking so long?
I'm tired of parking outside and it's cold AF now. Not to mention the severe loss of mpg.
Is Stellantis "COE-Elbonia" still typing away code on their typewriters?

Looks like Stellantis is just kicking the can down the road because they know ultimately all these batteries need replacing, even the batteries they previously replaced for the B9A and 04B recalls, and there is also a very good chance they don't even know if the newer ones that are not part of this 95B recall have additional problems.

They should stop making 4xes period, full stop, Stellantis probably waiting to see if the gravy train subsides get axed in January.

100K+ vehicles are affected, which will cost a couple billion dollars, and they don't exactly have the capacity to even start replacing these batteries, then what happens if they still need to further replace the replacements down the road.

It's very obvious Stellantis doesn't care about customers, and is trying to work out behind the scenes how this fiasco will not bankrupt them, they sure as hell should not get any government bailout.

I'm basically at the point of, just gimme above resale value, so I can go buy a damn Tesla.

I got my monthly Carvana “Here is your vehicle’s new value for December” email. My 2021 Rubicon 4XE went from $35,000 in November, down to $29,000 in December!! Lost $6,000 of value in a month. That’s with them guessing I have 18k miles on it. I have 10k on it, so it’s worth slightly more. This has to be because of this battery issue!! Damn, I’m mad about this!!

None of our 4xe Wranglers (2021-2024) have exhibited any problems. Two are under the recall. It's not a "Jeep thing" it's a Samsung thing since they manufactured the batteries. Given that, the same battery tech is in other products so I surmise there are other shoes to drop elsewhere. If there is a lesson to be learned, it is for our leaders not getting too far over their skis pushing (mandating) something as the end-all-be-all solution without serious analysis of the consequences creating an entirely new set of hair-on-fire "problems to solve".

We love our 4xe Wranglers. One is is over 3yrs in service and well past 100,000 miles now and no measurable range degradation and needed nothing other than std lube and filter maintenance and a set of tires (brakes still like new). So I'm saying people shouldn't wig out too much.🤷‍♂️

Yeah well, Samsung SDI just got several more billion $ to build more battery plants.
I'm not against subsidizing the EV tech, but I'm pretty pissed off that THAT company got the money.
That company that seems to have constant issues with things exploding. #Samsung.

My case manager literally told me to “use my judgement” when deciding to park inside and charge. He said there have only been a “handful” of fires. Big risk with my family and pets in the house. Anyway, same story here. Long wait times on the phone, no answers. I am supposedly escalated to the buy back department, but I’ve been waiting a while on that too. I have had 6 wranglers, a gladiator, 2 GC and a compass in my lifetime. If they don’t attempt to make this right, never again

I'm very distraught as all the 4xe owners are, my loyalty has been with Jeep over 30 or 40 yrs, I've owned many "Jeep" vehicles in my lifetime, I'll be 72 in a couple of weeks, I currently own a Wrangler Sahara 4xe, I ordered back in 2021, I purchased upon it's arrival March of 2022. I was very excited to see it but was very disappointed when I saw how the batteries were placed and the lack of space when the back seats were folded! I was even more disappointed when there wasn't an embroidered SAHARA logo on my seats, nor a SAHARA on the body above Wrangler! I paid a he'll of a lot for this Jeep & now it didn't display the prestigious news! Now it's valued as something low in resale! I have traded in my Jeeps after 2years in service, when there's the highest resale value, I about fell out of my chair when it's value fell over $20K! I was livid! I know my DEALER, owner felt very bad but his hands were tied, he tried to sympathize with me by increasing the trade-in value. It wasn't satisfactory to me, I still had an unblemished, beautiful black SAHARA, my vehicle was pristine, as all my Jeep trade-ins are! I'm still complimented often, as to how NICE a Jeep it is!
I've sent a certified

The person I talked to at corporate explained everything to me and result is pretty much the same as everyone here. Sometime in December for the software fix. I was told at my local dealer they tested the battery and sent diagnostic info to whoever is working on all of this.

Corporate told me the issue with the fires was with charging and keeping it plugged in for days. Something about the software not detecting correctly and causing the system to I assume, overcharge the batteries past the stop point. This is probably why they recommend not to charge it since they are trying to figure it out. I asked specifically if the Regen system would cause the batteries to catch fire and she said no, it was too low power to trigger this issue.

We also have a Tesla and they actually recommend keeping it plugged in. So we did the same with the Jeep. Plus it only takes a few to max charge so I'll bet most people don't just unplug it when full but leave it plugged in. Maybe not for days, but still. Disturbing and annoying.

I was also offered the rental deal plus $100 gas cards for as long as it takes but never heard back from whoever was suppose to contact us.

Reading through this procedure scares the crap out of me for service techs performing this procedure. I don't know whether I want to be one of the first in to get this done or wait till they have done a few. The sooner I get the update, the sooner I can put my mind at rest or be at the head of the line for a battery replacement. If I wait then who knows how long it might take to get a new battery. It looks like a formula for a less than skilled tech to brick the whole system.

All the procedures look like that, apparently.

Does being a 4xe certified tech just mean you have a Stellantis login?

De-skilling the mechanics and centralizing all knowledge through Stellantis' data center is a recipe for disaster in the long-term, but I bet they think it makes money for them in the short-term.

Has anyone talked to a lawyer? We, the customers are taking the brunt of this injustice!
I spoke with an attorney Nov 19.2024 . He told my case on lemon law. Lady from Recall center issued me. 100 voucher for my time also will pay for rental car for 30 days . I was told to pay upfront and they will reimburse me 14 days later after I submit the receipts. Come on Jeep we need to do better. Have to wait 90 days for a response. Good luck to us Jeep owners.
